FAQ

Got questions?

We tried to think of everything, but if we missed something, email hello@brainandbeing.co or schedule a free consult
What can I expect during my first session?
Think of the first session as a conversation, not a confession. We’ll talk about what’s been going on, what you want to change, and how we might get there. I’ll ask questions to understand how your brain, body, and environment interact - not just what’s “wrong.”

You’ll leave with a sense of direction, not a diagnosis lecture.
How do you tailor therapy to each person?
Your nervous system, history, and goals are unique - your therapy should be too.

I draw from neuroscience-informed models (like IFS, CBT, and ACT) but always adapt them to your context. Some people need structure and strategy; others need space and curiosity. We’ll calibrate as we go.
What are your rates and payment options?
Session rates are transparent and simple - no hidden billing.

Initial intake: $135 (90791)
60-minute session: $135 (90837)
45-minute session: $101.25 (90834)
30-minute session: $67.50 (90832)

Payment is due at the time of service. I accept HSA/FSA cards and can provide superbills for out-of-network reimbursement.
What’s your cancellation policy?
Cancellations require 24 hours’ notice. Sessions canceled with less notice are billed in full. Life happens - but consistency is part of the process.
What should I do in case of an emergency?
If you’re in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency department.

If you need immediate mental-health support, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline).

Therapy is for processing, not crisis management, but I’ll help you build a safety plan if needed.
Do you offer virtual sessions
Yes. All sessions are offered via secure video. You just need a quiet space and a stable internet connection.

Most clients prefer virtual sessions for the flexibility and privacy.
Do you accept Insurance?
No, and that’s intentional. Avoiding insurance allows us to protect your privacy, avoid diagnostic labels being shared, and build a process that fits you - not a billing code.

You can still submit for out-of-network reimbursement if your plan allows.
Do you offer sliding-scale options?
I reserve a limited number of sliding-scale spots for clients with financial need.

If cost is a concern, let’s talk openly - therapy shouldn’t be financially punitive.
What if I’ve tried therapy before and it didn’t help?
Good. You already know what doesn’t work for you - that’s data, not failure.

My approach is experiential, practical, and rooted in neuroscience. If we’re not a fit, I’ll help you find someone who is. No ego, no drama.
How long does it take to feel better?
That depends on what you bring in and how ready you are to engage. Some people notice changes within a few sessions; others take longer.

My role is to help you move efficiently, but depth work takes time. We’ll track progress together so you’re never guessing.
Can I work with you for coaching instead of therapy?
Yes, especially if your goals are more professional, strategic, or performance-oriented.

Coaching doesn’t involve diagnosis or clinical treatment and can be done across state lines.
What’s your overall philosophy?
Brains are adaptable. Change is biological before it’s psychological.

My job is to help you understand and rewire the patterns driving your behavior with compassion, structure, and science.
